Crimson Tears ((No More Secrets))

 My name is Catie and I'm 27 years old. About a year ago, a 15 year old girl walked in to the physicians office where I am a nurse with words carved into her arm. At that time I know almost nothing about self injury, but it broke my heart to think that someone would want to cause themselves pain. I wanted to understand and I wanted to help, so I started doing some research online. That started a journey I never really anticipated going on and one I wouldn't trade for the world. I have learned a lot since then, heard a lot of stories of hurt and of hope, and made some amazing friends that will forever have a special place in my heart.
 

 To those of you who may be visiting this site and do not self injure, please don't judge what you see on the outside without knowing what is going on in the inside. If you are concerned that someone you know or love is self harming don't ignore it, help them seek professional help, be willing to listen, be patient with them, and willing to see who they are beyond their scars.
To those of you who do self injure, I want you to know this- your scars do tell a story and that story matters. You deserve to be able tell that story, to share your pain without harming yourself, to be listened to, to be loved. I love you. Your life, your hurt, it matters to me. YOU matter and you don't have to keep hurting alone.
